Title: The Snowman (also on AO3)
Fandom: nbc's Revolution
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Miles, Bass, Charlie, Rachel, Aaron and Gene
Prompt: From nbc_revolution 's Community Prompt Table: 25 prompts in 25 days, prompt Snowman.
Summary: It's suddenly snowing in Willoughby and the gang discover that Miles was turned into a snowman and he's not happy about it.

It was snowing in Willoughby, which wasn't impossible, but considering the clear weather they had the previous evening, it was damn improbable and odd. The gang ventured out of the house, letting the snowflakes fall on their uncovered heads, like cold, chaste kisses.

"Has anyone seen Miles?" Rachel asked, trying not to sound alarmed.

"Not since last night," Charlie answered, frowning. "Do you think he's-?"

"Umm… Guys?" Bass called them from behind the house. "You need to come see this." Rachel, Charlie and Aaron stomped through the piling snow, as they made their way towards him. Bass motioned with his head towards a large snowman that was as tall as he was.

"You wanted to show us a snowman?" Aaron asked.

'I'm not a freaking snowman!', they heard the indignant exclamation in their heads.

"Did you guys hear that?" Charlie asked, her blue eyes widening. "I heard it, in my head- it sounds-"

"Like Miles," Rachel agreed, scrutinizing the snowman.

"Oh good, so I'm not going crazy," Bass said relieved.

'This is all Aaron's fault!'

"My fault?" Aaron squeaked. "How is this my fault? I didn't do anything!"

'You're Lord of the Fireflies, you must have done something,' snowman Miles "said". 'Suddenly we get snow out of nowhere and next thing you know, I'm a snowman!'

"I thought you said you weren't a snowman?" Bass grinned.

'Not funny Bass!'

"It's a little bit funny," Bass countered cheekily.

'You need to fix this!' Miles yelled in their heads. 'Now!'

"How?" Aaron asked. "I have no idea how you turned into a snowman in the first place!"

"Healing wounds, bringing people back from the dead is one thing," Rachel said contemplatively. "But turning a person into an inanimate object that's still sentient… That's kind of a metaphysical change-"

'I don't care about your X-Files mumbo jumbo,' Miles snapped.

"Right, well clearly we need to go figure this out," Rachel said, grabbing Aaron's arm and walking away, muttering about grouchy voices in her head not being helpful.

Charlie and Bass stared at one another and at the snowman.

"You know," Bass said with a dangerous twinkle in his eye. "If people just see a snowman, they might destroy it; but if they see a cute snowman with like, buttons for eyes and shit, they might think twice about it."

"I think you're right," Charlie grinned at him.

'Don't you dare!'

"Sorry, man, but it's for your own good," Bass said, as the two headed back inside, leaving snowman Miles alone to quietly fume. They returned shortly with full arms and wide grins; they stuck on him black buttons for eyes, a scarf around the neck and started making a smile out of beads, before changing their minds and turning it into a scowl. Bass approached Miles with a carrot in his hand.

'Don't you dare stick that carrot on my face!' Miles warned.

"Where do you want me to stick it?" Bass asked innocently, getting a giggle out of Charlie. Rachel and Aaron returned and stared at snowman Miles, trying not to grin.

'This isn't a joke! What if I never turn back? You guys should be figuring out how to turn me back, instead of decorating me!'

"We've never encountered anything like this, it's against all the laws of physics- how exactly do you expect us to figure this out? According to you, this… Transformation happened unprovoked," Rachel reasoned. "And Aaron swears he didn't do anything, so hopefully the situation will resolve itself on its own."

Aaron edged away from the group and picked up a twig. "He's missing arms and maybe we can make a sword out of tinfoil."

'Come near me with that stick and I'll poke you with it.'

Bass sniggered.

'Not an innuendo, Bass!'

"God, I wish I had a camera," Bass smiled at him wistfully. "You look so cute."

'I'm going to kick your ass.'

"That might be hard, without any legs," Bass countered.

'I'll find a way! And when I'm back in my own body, I'll make sure you all pay for this!'

"What's going on here?" Gene asked in confusion, taking in the scene. "You guys built a snowman?"

"Miles somehow got turned into a snowman, he can talk to us in our heads and we have no idea how to change him back," Charlie explained to him in one breath. "We just… Added some stuff, for his own safety."

"Oh, I see," Gene said nonplussed, before turning his back and walking back inside, muttering about Mathesons and their crazy, headache-inducing shenanigans.

Title: The Nativity Play (also on AO3)
Fandom: nbc's Revolution
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Miles, Bass and Ben
Prompt: From nbc_revolution 's Community Prompt Table: 25 prompts in 25 days, prompt School Play.
Summary: Bass' youngest sister Angela is in the Nativity Play at school; Ben is the designated driver, Bass is a terrible backseat driver and Miles doesn't get what the big deal is.
A/N: I'm Jewish and the only Christmas I know is from tv and movies.

"You're driving too slowly," Bass complained from the backseat, drumming his hand on his knee.

"I'm driving responsibly," Ben countered, his hands tightening on the steering wheel. "It's raining, you can't be too careful."

"OK, grandpa."

"Hey, do you want to drive?"

"Yes!"

"Well, tough, it's my car," Ben said with a sigh. "Why am I doing this again?"

"Because you're a sucker for Bass' puppy dog eyes," Miles shrugged from the passenger's seat. "And it was your idea to pick us up."

"An idea I'm starting to regret," Ben muttered to himself. "I agreed to pick you up, not chauffeur you two around town."

"We're going to be late," Bass complained.

"We won't be late," Miles rolled his eyes. "Seriously, what's the big deal? It's a stupid Elementary School Nativity Play, this isn't a premiere on Broadway."

"Obviously you're just a spoiled little brother and not an awesome older brother," Bass said, texting his mom and updating her on their progress.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"That you're self centered and think everything revolves around you," Ben explained helpfully.

"I'm not!"

"Yeah? I went to your games- did you ever go to any of my science fairs, unless mom dragged you to it?"

"In my defense, science fairs are boring," Miles said with a shit-eating grin.

"We're here," Ben said, pulling into the school's parking lot. The minute the car stopped, Bass jumped out of it and ran towards the building. Miles and Ben joined him a few minutes later and they snuck in, quietly making their way over to Bass' parents, who saved them seats.

Bass grabbed his phone and took pictures of Angela, the most adorable sheep in the manger. She glanced at the audience and her eyes locked onto Bass; she broke character and smiled widely at him, before she caught herself and returned to her serious sheep mentality. Bass smiled toothily at his baby sister and continued to take pictures. Miles and Ben exchanged amused looks.

"Thanks for taking us, otherwise Bass would never have shut up about this," Miles whispered to him.

"Putting up with annoying younger brothers, that's what older brothers are for," Ben said, elbowing him gently. Miles huffed indignantly, but his mouth quirked into a grin, as he turned back to the stage and Angela's breakout performance.

That was great and exactly what I needed! I'm feeling all bleeeh and sad and this made me smile. :D Grumpy Snowman Miles is so precious! Bass and Charlie decorating him. LOL Btw, your Bass is SO GOOD, he's... Bass.
My favorite part, LOL

And big brother Bass, that was so adorable. Happy Bass always makes my heart melt. I have to add this to my flashback wish list: pre-blackout Bass with his sisters.

You rock :)

Well, I'm glad I managed to cheer you up, but why are you sad? Don't be sad! I forbid it! *hugs Nika*

Grumpy Snowman Miles is so precious! Bass and Charlie decorating him.

Grumpy Snowman Miles is so precious, Aaron wished there was still internet, so he could create a 'Grumpy Snowman Miles' Meme to rival that of 'Grumpy Cat'.

And Bass and Charlie are adorable partners in crime.

LOL Btw, your Bass is SO GOOD, he's... Bass.
My favorite part, LOL

Haha, thanks! I think the line you quoted was me channeling my inner Butters, she must have rubbed off on me during the rewatch chat. I'm not complaining, though. *g*

Thanks, I loved writing that part. Bass with his sisters is on my flashback wish list as well! I really wish we could see Bass with his family on the show, as actual characters, instead of just using them for man-angst.

My Superhero Better Half! Just saw the Charlie & Gene you posted, you're on a roll! You go girl!

Well, I'm glad I managed to cheer you up, but why are you sad? Don't be sad! I forbid it! *hugs Nika*

No reason in particular, just having a bad day I guess. But I'm all better now and Grumpy Snowman Miles was a big help :D

That's no competition, Grumpy Miles beats all the grumpy in the world.

I think the line you quoted was me channeling my inner Butters

I don't know, maybe I've read too many of Butters' Miloe fics lately but it just sounded so very much them. :D

My Superhero Better Half! Just saw the Charlie & Gene you posted, you're on a roll! You go girl!

Awwww, stop! And I think the roll is over, because most of the prompts are taken and I really need to focus on the Santa thing (the reason I didn't answer the email was because I didn't want to answer until I wrote some more, or I'd feel like a flop). I probably wrote that ficlet to procrastinate. I've been having some issues with the Bass-Rachel segment, so I skipped it for now and wrote the Pre-blackout Matheson part (it's about 970 words and fluffy).

We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

No reason in particular, just having a bad day I guess. But I'm all better now and Grumpy Snowman Miles was a big help :D

Yay! So happy to hear it helped, Grumpy Snowman Miles is happy to be of service (no he's not, he's grumpy, but let's pretend he is).

That's no competition, Grumpy Miles beats all the grumpy in the world.

YESSSSSS! So Grumpy, so cute!

I don't know, maybe I've read too many of Butters' Miloe fics lately but it just sounded so very much them. :D

Maybe, either way I'm glad to know they sounded in-character, that's always something I worry about when I write my weird crack fics.

He's grumpy to be of service? :D You should turn it into a series, The Adventures of Miles The Grumpy Snowman. :D

Well, it's my lj and we were mostly being vague, but you're right, we should stop discussing our Secret Santa here. I'll officially reply to your email later today.

LOL! If I could get cracky inspiration for more, I'd consider writing another one-shot. I doubt it, but you never know! Maybe he'll find a way to bounce around and headbutt people, like the Knight in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

LOVE!!! Snowman Miles hit all the necessary grumpy points! And a little Miloe subtext. ;D I dunno why, but Miles turning into a very cross snowman has somehow become really plausible on this ridiculous show. *shrug* I'm with Gene. Miles also speaks to me inside of my head. *nods* So that's normal too.

And I always love Bass and the sisters - they're some of my fave flashbacks to write and read. And any mention of Miles as Ben's little brother warms my heart. Miles is a terrible little brother! LOL. Bass needling Ben about driving was awesome - exactly how I picture them.

You writing these stories is what I call, "a Christmas miracle."

LOVE!!! Snowman Miles hit all the necessary grumpy points!

Thank you! You were a big help in creating him, because you loved the idea of Grumpy Snowman Miles so much.

And a little Miloe subtext.

I think I was channeling my inner Butters for the Bass parts, you really rubbed off on my during the rewatch chats. And of course there's Miloe subtext, how could I resist my Miloe love?

I dunno why, but Miles turning into a very cross snowman has somehow become really plausible on this ridiculous show.

With this ridiculous show, it just might be plausible. Although I'm with Rachel on this one, bringing people back from the dead is a bit different than turning someone into a sentient inanimate object.

*shrug* I'm with Gene.

I'm always with Gene. I love the guy so much and in my head he never has time to deal with the Mathesons and their crazy BS. *pets San Grandpanda*

And I always love Bass and the sisters - they're some of my fave flashbacks to write and read.

Me too! We need more Bass with his family fics, because I'm sure the show will never give us those flashbacks (it's not like they're actual characters, they just exist for man-angst).

And any mention of Miles as Ben's little brother warms my heart. Miles is a terrible little brother! LOL. Bass needling Ben about driving was awesome - exactly how I picture them.

Even though they were different and probably not as close as they could be, I refuse to accept a reality where Ben wasn't Miles' older brother in every sense of the word! And Miles had to have been a classic "little brother" and Bass is like the extra little brother Ben never asked for! It's exactly how I picture them too. *g*

You writing these stories is what I call, "a Christmas miracle."

Awww, that's so sweet! *hugs Butters* I was so worried about the Nativity story, because "Christmas, what is this confusing thing?" and I was worried people would realize I'm a fake and I had all these questions: 'What animals are in Nativity Plays?' 'Are there even Nativity Plays in public places like schools, with the whole 'separation of church and state'? The prompt said school, it can't be a church play' and 'How old would Angela be?' Etc, etc. So much hassle for such a short ficlet, LOL.

Haha. Well those all seem like typical fic research questions to me. I seem to remember this conversation I had with Cory once, where she was talking about being on the phone with tattoo artists...to ask how they tattoo penises. LOL! So, research is always key. Sometimes it does fail, but a sheep costume makes perfect sense.

Oh Ivy, separation of church and state in this country...don't get me started. *gags a little in my mouth* ;)

OMG, I feel you on Angela and Cynthia. When "Home" first came out, I had to pause and rewind on the girls' graves for like 10 minutes, and I wrote them down on this scrap of paper that I subsequently lost. When I was writing my story Dark is Right, in which they feature heavily, I had to keep stopping to calculate their ages, and it was exhausting. But it was also worth it since I loved the trope: Cynthia has an epic crush on Miles that renders her speechless around him! And Angela is hyper and makes Miles carrying her around on his shoulders so her head nearly clips the ceiling all the time. LOL.

Haha, yeah, it is typical research stuff, which for me means Google and Wiki. LOL at Cory! I wonder what the guy's reaction was.

I don't think you get to complain, we're a Jewish State and most of the times the religious people take over everything and force us secular people to conform. So we have to fight for every establishment that we want open on Saturday, among other things.

You're welcome! ;) Sometimes I think about pulling out bits of that story and posting them on AO3 (it was my FF swan song in a very weird transitional phase). It's a very uneven story, but it has its magical Miloe bromance moments. Maybe I'll refurbish it as a Christmas miracle (you see Christmas miracles are actually very common in my neck of the woods).

You can complain, just remember it could always be worse. Your country could be held hostage by fanatics that refuse to be a part of it (going to the Army, getting a freaking job and not living off of the tax payer's money) but will still dictate how we should all live our lives. I wish we could have a Vatican state and just ship them all off to there and have them fend for themselves. Sorry for the rant.

Christmas miracles ARE real, because I make them happen. ;) And I am in the process of re-posting just the Marine!Miloe half of "Dark is Right" on AO3 if you're interested, but no pressure. Because of it occurring during the boys' first tour, they both occasionally ponder Password. Dun-dun-dun. She does not appear in the story, but I felt like I'd better warn that she's mentioned a few times, as your love of bromance!Miloe may not be able to overcome your epic loathing of Password.

Also the chapters are kind of long (which I know sometimes dissuades you), and in the first chapter there's an oblique reference to Miles with his hand down his pants. There - you've been properly warned! (I do NOT feel comfortable reccing my own fics, clearly. Not at all!)

Haha, duly noted. Don't worry, Butters, I'm a big girl- if I don't like something, I can skip sections or stop reading. I don't mind mentions of Password, especially if they help make sense of her character the timeline and doesn't just treat her like a convenient womb (thanks show).

My ADD can sometimes deal with long chapters/stories and sometimes not, I can't really tell if I'll lose steam reading or not. But I read the first chapter and I love all the details you've put in their (early) Marine life, that just makes it so real.

And the best miracles are the ones we make happen, that way we also feel accomplished. ;)

Grumpy Miles as snowman is perfection. So so glad you gave into our harassment. Love the dialogue and Gene being annoyed by the Mathesons and Bass sticking a carrot up- I mean, on Miles. :P

And Bass being an awesome older brother! *smush* And a little Monroe sister as a sheep, grinning at her big bro? Nothing has ever been cuter.

These are both amazing. The first one is hilarious with grumpy telepathic snowman Miles being decorated and Gene unmovable by the craziness. And the second is adorable with Bass being a good older brother and I loved Ben and Miles and Ben being the oldest so he had to indulge the other two. It's nice.

And I refuse to believe that Bass wasn't a doting, awesome older brother to Cynthia and Angela, or that Ben didn't try his best to be a good older brother to Miles. Ahahhaaaa oh, brilliant. I love the concept and the dialogue in the snowman scene; you got to use the X-Files line! And Miles will kill Bass when he gets back to normal, I'm sure.

I also loved the Nativity Play so much; young Bass and Miles make me very happy. :) I was also a sheep in many plays (I'm so talented that way :p) so I feel for Angela.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face. Ah, show.

I actually heard on NPR about the snow in Jerusalem. Stay warm!

I'm trying! We ventured to the Supermarket yesterday all double layered and with plastic bags on our feet (that stayed dry until the end, when we reached a big ass puddle), the heat's on and we've got electricity and plenty of blankets. The worse is behind us, so we're good.

I love these a lot. Keep 'em coming. :)

Thanks, but I think I'm done. 4 is enough for me, when I wasn't going to even write one and now I really need to finish up my Secret Santa, seeing as how I have less than a week to do it in.
